Talking to Yourself Beneficial to Your Brain Health

The psychologists from the University of Wisconsin-Madison believe that talking to oneself is beneficial for the brain, and such behavior is not an aberration.

The researchers conducted a series of experiments, in which the participants had to find the lost items as fast as possible. Such activities force people to talk, and if there is nobody nearby, the person has to talk to himself/herself. The organizers of the experiment asked a half of the participants to undergo the test silently, while the other half of the volunteers were not restrained in talking.

The experiment showed that the job was done faster by those who were allowed to speak. Psychologists explain this by the fact that talking speeds up perception and thinking because it helps the brain find the right solution.
